Bleaugh!

There’s a behavioural devide that perpetuates that gap between the very rich and the rest of us.

For the very rich, resources for schooling are ploughed into learning in the classroom. In state education, most of the resources are directed into getting some standard of education for all, so that the vast majority can become contributing members of society. The worse the behaviour of a child, the more resources are sacrificed. The silent majority, the huge majority of children that are capable of learning, are largely ignored, and suffer a very poor level of education all together. It’s quite common for a bright child to be in a lesson with children with behavioural problems that completely disrupt the lesson, or in some way demand the entirity of the teachers attention.

The result is that state educated children leave schooling having learnt a vastly inferior ammount to their privately educated counterparts.

Office2007 in all it’s lovelyness arrived this week - 2 copies, so just checking what the OEM licence covers before ‘giving away’ the 2nd copy. I initially thought my measly 512 ram wasn’t going to hack it but it’s been ok.

Word 2007 is part graphics program. So easy to create with it, even tho’ results are cliched and no doubt will look as dated as the hellish wordart library we’ve all come to hate.

On another totally different subject, I was quite taken in by the Healthy Schools idea. Our school was an early adopter. If you look closely tho’, children are actually still eating junk. A hell of a lot of kids only buy cakes and cookies andthat’s all they have to eat in the middle of the day. The canteen must know about this, and stock huge amounts.

I was hearing over the holidays how schools should never be run under the influence of business. A business will always really only gravitate towards propping up it’s pension schemes.

Had notification today that I’d won a copy of MS Office 2007 in the recent compo!

I didn’t win copies of Vista (also up for grabs) - tho’ there were correct answers to those questions about the web so I suspect throngs of people got there before me.
